The recycling of building materials is important, because it allows their reuse in other construction sites or other buildings and uses, thus avoiding disposing of them in inappropriate ways and places that might cause particular urban problems.
The recycling of building materials may be divided into three different categories: primary, secondary and tertiary, depending on the treatment and the finished product.
Firstly, the material resulting from demolitions or constructions is directly reused in the building site;
then a chemical treatment of the inert material disposed of is carried out;
finally, a chemical treatment is carried out, which transforms the scrap in a very similar material to that initially used.
This process entails many benefits on an economic level because, in addition to reducing energy costs, it deals with low-cost materials that have the same quality of the derived product. Furthermore, these materials do not constitute an obstacle for the community, if otherwise discarded.
